Objectives and goals
The implementation of suitable and efficient measures for the elimination of micropollutants will only be successful, if all stakeholders including policy makers, authorities, water agencies, and researcher interactively work together in order to develop innovative solutions and strategies.
At this interface, KOM-M.NRW works with the mandate of the Ministry for Environment, Agriculture, Conservation and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MKULNV). Since 2012, KOM-M.NRW evaluates studies on WWTP upgrades, which is the basis for WWTP technicians and operators to work together with authorities on suitable solutions for the elimination of micropollutants. Moreover, KOM-M.NRW closely cooperates with similar institutions in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg of Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Communication with the local municipalities and water agencies is being conducted in close collaboration with DWA NRW.
- A comprehensive collection of project profiles and reports on the application of adsorptive and oxidative measures at WWTP,
- Brochures with producers and suppliers of equipment for the elimination of micropollutants,
- Recommendations for action for dimensioning of WWTP, and
- Multiple events for the knowledge exchange on suitable measures for micropollutant elimination in NRW.
Workshops, events, and public relations enabled KOM-M.NRW to build up a substantial network on micropollutants.
